The Reprecussions of Live Trapping Wildlife

The recent economic downturn, government ban on certain pesticides and minimal government regulations has prompted pest control companies and exterminator to add wildlife control to their current pest control service. So far, most of these pest control and exterminator have chosen trapping and relocation or trapping and euthanizing as a means of wildlife control, since it hardly requires any expertise.

It should therefore be no surprise that pest control companies and exterminator performing wildlife removal services are in abundance in the Yellowpages listings under Pest Control Toronto, Pest Control Mississauga, Exterminator Toronto and Exterminator Mississauga.

Unfortunately, trapped wildlife will often suffer from severe self-injury and sometimes death while attempting to escape, especially when the trap is not monitored each and every day.

Furthermore, relocation of captured animals by pest control and exterminator companies will cause stress of being placed in an unfamiliar territory. Also, relocation increases the potential for transmission of infectious diseases and the conflict between the animal and its environment. Decreasing wildlife populations without reducing food and/or shelter results in the remaining animals simply living longer, having larger litters, and migrating to fill the void, thus maintaining the pre-existing population levels. Trapping and relocation of adult animals (especially during the spring and summer) will, in many instances, separate mothers from babies and will cause the death of dependent offspring. Studies by the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources have shown that 60% of relocated raccoons will perish.
