Mother Raccoon Collecting Her Baby
Working With Mother Nature During the birthing season, our first step is to enter the attic and locate the raccoon family. During the search a watchful eye must be kept on the mother raccoon as her instinctive nature is to guard her young, sometimes prompting her to attack when you least expect it. Our goal during attic inspections in the Spring season is to gather the babies and bring them outside for the mother to collect. Once on the outside, we often attempt to lure the mother outside with the cries of her babies. As you will see in the video, the crying can be quite effective but there is a 50/50 chance of it working depending on the mother raccoon. In cases when the adult does not come out despite our attempts, the installation of our tested and proven Gates one-way-door allows them to exit through the door but not to get back in. This mother collected her one baby that we placed on the roof for her and proceeded to climb down the downspout to the ground. The rest of her babies were placed in one of our specifically designed Gates heated reunion boxes. She returned that night to collect and relocate the rest of her young.
